Siegmund after being shot arrives in Lamalou les Bains, where his sister Gisela who is now married, and her husband, stay with their new born baby. The rest of the Spira family remains in Salleles d'Aude until August, 26 1942 when the round ups against foreigner Jews occur and when everyone except Gisela and Siegmund are caught and taken to the camp of Rivesaltes before deportation from Drancy to Auschwitz.
